IN SEVERAL INCIDENTS HE ASKED THE VICTIMS HOW MUCH THEIR LIVES WERE WORTH AND WAS ARMED WITH A HANDGUN.
Cold Case - Jermaine Howard Homicide

ON AUGUST 17, 2007 JUST AFTER 10PM, OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO A SHOOTING AT AN APARTMENT LOCATED 100 LAKESHORE DRIVE #138. UPON ARRIVAL, POLICE FOUND THE BODY OF JERMAINE HOWARD DECEASED FROM AN APPARENT GUNSHOT TO THE HEAD. HE WAS EXECUTED UPON ARRIVING HOME JUST AS HE OPENED HIS APARTMENT DOOR. EVEN AFTER 8 YEARS LEXINGTON POLICE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ENOUGH INFORMATION IN THE CASE TO PLACE CHARGES.

AT 10:15PM AN ALARM SOUNDED AT BLUEGRASS HOME ENTERTAINMENT. WHEN POLICE RESPONDED THEY FOUND THE DOOR HAD BEEN SMASHED WITH A ROCK AND TWO LARGE FLAT SCREEN TELEVISIONS HAD BEEN STOLEN. THE COST OF DAMAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY $2000 AND THE LOSS OF MERCHANDISE WAS NEARLY $4000. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS BUSINESS HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO SINCE APRIL. IT IS BELIEVED THE SAME SUBJECT IS INVOLVED EACH TIME.

AT 10 PM LEXINGTON POLICE RESPONDED TO A CALL FOR HELP AT THE RED ROOF INN ON WILHITE DRIVE. UPON ARRIVAL, THEY LEARNED THERE HAD BEEN A ROBBERY. THE SUSPECT WAS DESCRIBED AS A LIGHT SKINNED MALE BLACK ARMED WITH A SILVER SEMI AUTOMATIC HANDGUN.

LEXINGTON POLICE HAVE BEEN RECEIVING REPORTS OF PROFESSIONAL PICKPOCKETING OVER THE PAST YEAR. THESE THEIVES HAVE TARGETED VICTIMS AT INTERSTATE CRACKER BARRELS, UK FOOTBALL GAMES, AND EVEN KEENELAND THIS PAST WEEKEND. THEY ARE USING DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES AND EVEN MODIFYING THEIR APPEARANCE WITH CLOTHING TO ACCOMPLISH THE THEFTS. THE VICTIM’S CREDIT CARDS ARE BEING CHARGED FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN GIFT CARDS AT AREA GAS STATIONS AND WALMART.
Shell Station Robbery

Just after midnight on September 18, this subject entered the Shell Station located at 435 W New Circle Road. He retrieved a beer and approached the register as if to checkout. He displayed a silver semi auto handgun and demanded all of the cash from the register. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the store.
Dakota St. Assault on a Police Officer

On 09/11/15 at 10:55am Officer Derrick Wallace was working off duty at the Speedway located at 716 N Broadway. Frequently, businesses that experience high nuisance type crimes employ officers off duty to assist with calls for service.
Officer Wallace was alerted by a store employee that a subject had just stolen two cartons of cigarettes and fled the store. Officer Wallace pursued the suspect on foot to Dakota St but lost sight of him. Just then he heard someone yell “Go, go, go!” He looked up and saw an older model red four door Nissan Sentra pull out from the side of the roadway with the shoplifting suspect in the backseat. The car lunged forward, the officer drew his side arm, and the car stopped. The shoplifting suspect began to exit the car and Officer Wallace approached the side of the vehicle. The driver then suddenly took off again and struck Officer Wallace. He was spun around and the impact knocked the gun from his hand. He rolled down the side of the car and fell to the ground. Upon regaining his composure, he discovered his foot was broken. Unfortunately, he will require surgery.
Chase Bank Fisherman Robbery

On September 11 at 9:30am a male black wearing a tan with red flowered fisherman’s cap, black and gray hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses entered the Chase Bank located at 4097 Nichols Park Drive. He immediately ordered everyone to the ground except the tellers. He implied a weapon in his pocket and demanded cash. The suspect did obtain some cash but wanted more. He was not able to steal as much as expected and fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF SEPTEMBER 22, THE BUSINESS OWNER OF SHELL LOCATED AT 176 WEST NEW CIRCLE ROAD ARRIVED TO START HIS DAY. HE DISCOVERED ONE OF THE LARGE PLATE GLASS WINDOWS OF HIS STORE WAS REMOVED AND SHATTERED. ONCE INSIDE, HE FOUND SOMEONE HAD STOLEN NEARLY 100 CARTONS OF CIGARETTES TOTALING ALMOST $3,500. DETECTIVES ARE LOOKING AT THE POSSIBILITY OTHER RECENT BURGLARIES MAY BE LINKED.
Kwame El-Amin Homicide

On June 21st, Douglas Park was hosting the annual Dirt Bowl basketball tournament. During the event, officers stationed at the scene advised there were shots being fired within the park between two groups of subjects. Shortly thereafter, officers found the victim, Kwame El-Amin, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the neck. Police later identified several other individuals with gunshot wounds at various Lexington hospitals. It is believed the victim happened to be
in the crossfire between the two groups when the shooting started. Tragically, Kwame El-Amin did not survive. He was simply a spectator and was not involved in the altercation.
Burglary with Resident Present

Lexington Police are on the lookout for at least two subjects, possibly juveniles. They broke into a home on Tateswood Drive yesterday around noon. The resident was at the far end of the house and did not hear the back door being kicked in. The resident discovered the burglars and they fled the residence. Security cameras captured an image of both subjects with one very alarming image... One of the burglars was armed with a firearm. Police are asking for any help in identifying these two dangerous individuals.
Walmart Cell Phone Fraud

ON AUGUST 14TH A SUBJECT ENTERED THE HAMBURG WALMART AND PURCHASED SEVERAL CELLULAR PHONES. HE THEN REMOVED THE PHONES FROM THE PACKAGING, REPLACED THEM WITH WOODEN BLOCKS, REWRAPPED THE PACKAGING, AND RETURNED THEM FOR CASH. THIS IS THE THIRD OCCURRENCE OF THIS FRAUD OCCURING OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS AT WALMARTS IN HARRODSBURG AND LAWRENCEBURG AS WELL. THERE ARE MULTIPLE SUSPECTS INVOLVED.
North Lexington Church Burglary

On August 20th, Lexington Police were called to The North Lexington Church of Christ located at 2280 Hume Road. The Pastor was reporting that sometime in the night, three subjects kicked in the side door to the church’s storage building. It appears they ransacked the contents looking for anything of value but it does not appear they found anything worth taking. Church security cameras captured the burglars on video.

HE BRANDISHED A LARGE HUNTING KNIFE AND DEMANDED CASH FROM THE REGISTER. THE CLERK COMPLIED AND THE SUSPECT FLED THE AREA ON FOOT.

THE VICTIM WENT TO THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY AND WHILE WAITING IN LINE, HER WALLET WAS STOLEN OUT OF HER PURSE. WITHIN ONE HOUR OF THE THEFT. THE SUSPECT USED ALL THREE OF HER STOLEN CREDIT CARDS TO MAKE PURCHASES AT TARGET LOCATED AT 131 W. REYNOLDS RD. TWO OF THE CHARGES WERE IN THE ELECTRONICS DEPT AND ONE WAS AT A MAIN REGISTER. THEY WERE FOR $909, $906, AND $500. TARGET POLICY DICTATES EMPLOYEES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ASK FOR ID. ULTIMATELY, THE THIEF PURCHASED TWO PREPAID PHONE CARDS AND TWENTY $90 ITUNES GIFT CARDS.
Executive Drive Arson

On Monday August 3rd at 12:30pm a victim was flagged down in the area of Executive Drive by a male and female subject requesting a ride. The victim did not comply and the female suspect jumped into the victim’s car through an unsecured door. The victim drove to a safe location nearby and ordered the female out of his car. The victim went into the social security office located at 2240 Executive Drive and came out later to find his vehicle had been set on fire. Video surveillance captured the same two suspects exiting the parking lot. The victim did not have full coverage was not able to replace his vehicle valued at approximately $5000.
Sams Club Road Rage Assault

On July 2 at noon Lexington Police were called to Sam’s Club located at 1063 E New Circle Road regarding a road rage incident that turned into an assault. According to the victim, the suspect was driving the wrong way through the parking lot and the victim blew his horn. The suspect responded by chasing him through the lot, ramming his vehicle, and pulling him out of his car. The suspect proceeded to viciously beat the victim with a hockey stick and returned to his car and threatened to kill the victim with a firearm. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Winburn Homicide

On June 9th around 2AM Officers responded to a frantic call for help on Gerald Drive in the Winburn Subdivision. A woman reported she and her husband were laying in bed and awoke to gunshots coming through their bedroom window. Her husband, Thomas Brown (pictured at right), had been shot multiple times. Sadly, Mr. Brown did not survive. Police believe Mr. Brown was not the intended target. Jared's Galleria Burglary

On June 19 at 8:00pm, Officers were dispatched to Jared`s Galleria of Jewelry located at 111 W Reynolds Road regarding a burglary. Upon arrival, they learned three male blacks armed with a large hammer entered the store and smashed the glass cases stealing approximately 50 diamonds valued at well in excess of $10,000. The stolen getaway vehicle was located abandoned a short distance away on Nicholasville Road.
The Lafayette Jewel Thief

On July 8th around 8pm Lexington Police responded to The Lafayette, a senior citizens community, located on Mason Headley Road regarding a series of thefts. Officers learned that a suspect was observed pulling on several apartment doors moving down the hallway. When confronted by a witness, the suspect could not explain her presence in the building. The witness attempted to walk the suspect to security and the suspect fled out the front door and began speaking Spanish on her cellular phone. The witness was able to snap a photo of the suspect before she was picked up by an escape vehicle with unknown out of state registration plates. Later that evening, victims residing in the building began realizing their jewelry was missing.
